The best part of this book for me is that the classic, original version has been preserved as I am not a fan of the modernization of the classics. The illustrations are nice and correspond very well to the story, making it easy for younger children to follow along. The book, however, is flimsy and tears/falls apart easily. I still gave it 5 stars because of the price.

When I purchased this book, I was hoping for a book with colorful illustrations that still followed the classic "Goldilocks" story. Fortunately, I got both. We have another version where the artwork was sketched in black and white, and even though the story was perfect, my daughter wasn't the least bit interested in any of the pictures.This book however, has colorful artwork on each page which could basically tell the story itself. We've enjoyed reading it over and over, and I've now passed it down to my younger nephew since my daughter has outgrown the story. To this day though, she still remembers this book and the other classics in the set.The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the book is a bit flimsy, and the pages are pretty thin. It will get ripped easily by children if you are not careful. Other than that, it's a good bedtime or anytime read for children.

This series of classic children's books has nice illustrations. I have a more modern very of the Three Bears, but the illustrations fail to have the right number of bowls, or chairs, or beds, as the case may be, on the page I'm reading to my granddaughter. That's confusing to toddlers who are learning to count. This book has toddler friendly illustrations so is much better for our purposes. I bought this to go with a felt story board. My granddaughter and I love it.

I was looking for a good basic version of several familiar traditional tales for my son, nearly 3. I've been very pleased with this whole series. The tales, Goldilocks included, are the basically the traditional versions, in language accessible to today's audience. Some of the harsher realities of the fairy tales are softened. But what pleases me most of all is that the repetitive classic lines we all remember from childhood are present! Little ones can commit those refrains to memory (and use them to repeat the story themselves!). It is also pleasing to me that the text, while simple, is not bland. In fact there is enough emotion and intrigue to capture the interest of the littlest listeners while not overwhelming them. And there are plenty of more difficult vocabulary words to challenge little ears. The illustrations in The Three Little Pigs are my favorite, but the others in the series are nice, too. Overall, a wonderful introduction of traditional tales to the younger listeners! Thank you!

It's the classic story you grew up with. What is there not to like??? This is my daughters favorite book so we bought this and had it shipped to Grandma's house while my wife was up there with the kids. It was easier to get it shipped via Amazon than it was for us to have to worry about packing it (the other copy that we have is in a very large story book - but my daughter only likes to read this one story). With the way that the airlines charge for luggage these days every pound counts, so rather than waste a pound or so with the big book we just had this shipped up there. It was simple and waiting for them when they got there.

We need more of these age-old classics for children; they're an important part of the history of children's literature. And, we need to pass it on to the children in all our families today.

Just as I remember it when I was a child. We recently had a baby shower for my daughter and the invitation requested a favorite childhood story be given and signed in place of a card. She received a nice selection of older classic stories, as well as, several newer titles. It was a lovely idea and she now has a great start on a home library for our grandson!

David Benjamin Sherry traveled the United States to document the national monuments reduced in size by the current administration, opening once-protected lands to use by industry. I think this is a great bird identification book for my needs. I am a beginner to intermediate bird watcher and I previously owned the Sibley bird guide. I like that this book as multiple similar bird species on the same page, I find this to be very helpful for me in identification. I think the illustrations are pleasant and clear, the birds are also placed in various natural poses. There is a very brief but good introduction on how to use the guide and what the different parts of a bird are called for use in identification. The size and weight of this book is normal compared to other similar bird guides. I like that there are thumb tabs built into the book, this makes flipping to the right section very easy and quick. I don't think every guide has thumb tabs which in my experience make using a guide at a park or nature preserve much easier. The cover and pages of the book have a nice feel and quality to them. In comparison to the Sibley bird guide I prefer this book. The features that make this book stand out in my opinion are the thumb tabs and the multiple similar bird grouping on a single page. Each available bird guide seems to have a few characteristics that distinguish them from one another. In my opinion this book excels in allowing the user to quickly and easily access the information they need. I was also able to buy a new copy on Amazon for nearly half the price of similar guides from a third party seller who also offered prime shipping.

Very good guide book. I prefer Sibley's illustrations, but this book uses darker text ink and a larger font, making it easier to read. The book has lots of info and well detailed maps.

I love this book. I live in North Carolina and wanted a book that described the birds in this area specifically, and this book does just that. I was primarily interested in hawks since I have a hawk that stays in my yard a lot. Some of the other bird books only show one kind of hawk, but this one has several different kinds. I live on a lake so I know I'll use this book a lot.

All the information you need for birding out west, with a little less bulk. Excellent art -- painings are to be preferred over photos for ID purposes -- and highly-informative text in the species accounts. By eliminating those species never found west of the Rocky Mtns, the "Western" book has been made almost, though not quite, small enough to fit in a back pocket, and the relatively move compact size does help when in the field with it.

This is a perfect book for anyone who loves to watch birds or even just enjoy them in your backyard. The pictures are large and colorful, and the information included is amazing. Young kids or amateur watchers might not be interested in all of the info, but it's a great book for identifying and learning about birds.I gave this as a gift, and it was a hit. National Geographic has done an excellent job with this book.

This is a great bird book. I'm a beginner and could still find birds without knowing exactly what "category" they were in.

My wife prefers the Sibley Guide but I like having several guides to reference and I do find this guide very good, very useful. The illustrations are very good.

Excellent reference. This was recommended by an international birder who takes tour groups around the world. We were fortunate to have him tour our area with our garden group.

This was one of the first books my daughter was fascinated by in our history curriculum and it just so happens that I had chosen it to substitute something else. Best decision I made in substitution. It is a fantastic book based in real facts (though I'm not sure to what extent) that my daughter could engage in but also that helped her interact with history in a way that now she knows some of the challenges of the time, some information of the character of George Washington as well as the dynamic of the issue of slavery and race in the time period and a mature way of processing these issues in a way my 6 year old could begin to understand a complex concept.

Excellent educational material for young Black girls and adults alike. Shows us that we were instrumental in every phase of the making of this nation.

Terrific story. I confess I skipped to the end to see how Phoebe figured out who was the bad guy! Great book.

My 8 year old loved this book! We've been to Mount Vernon several times but never knew about the information in this book. It is a good store about Washington and history.

My students loved it! After a SS unit on the Revolutionary War, this was a great book for them to experience the historical fiction genre.

I have loved all of the books so far. I can't wait until number 7 comes out. I would like to read some more of H.M. Wards books when I finish this series.

After finding Mel being the hooker that Sean hired, Avery takes off down the stairs. Sean chases after her. Catches her and brings her back to his room. Pins her down and tells her it isn't what she thinks. She doesn't want to hear it. However Mel won't let her leave. Makes her look at her & the room. Even though nothing happened, Avery feels slapped in the face by Mel and takes off. She gets on a train with no destination in mind. She calls Marty and he tells her to get off the train and he is coming for her. When Marty gets there, Avery is standing in front of her home as a child. Marty brings her back to his apartment. In the morning Mel busts in. All three of them go to breakfast after Mel tells Avery exactly what happened with Sean. Avery runs into Sean after class one day, and he asks her what she wants. They go for a ride and Sean tells her he doesn't want to lose her. So he buys her from Black for this weekend. Only when Avery goes to sign the contact, she finds out that Black signed her on for Friday and Saturday with Sean, then Sunday with Henry. Just great. Now she is in lab with Marty, and kind of feels weird around him because she knows he is gay but keeps getting weird vibes from him. Only to have her vibes correct. After class Marty finally tells her he isn't gay and completely in love with her. Avery is mad. She can't believe he lied to her all this time. She doesn't know what to feel cause she does like him so much. Everything is making her drown. She goes to Sean's and there she is hit with more. Sean proceeds to tell her that he is in love with her and that he doesn't want to share her and wants her to quit working for Black and let him take care of her. Only Avery has to know the truth of what happened with his wife. She tells him she doesn't believe the rumors that he killed her. Only to be shocked once again, Sean tells her that he did kill his wife. WHAT! Running over to 7 now!

This is one of my favorite serials ever. It’s sexy, sassy, funny and dark.This serial belongs to the dark and brooding Sean Ferro. He’s the first Ferro I was introduced to, and he holds a piece of my heart. As the series start out, Sean is very mysterious, and to be honest – 15 volumes in (when I’m writing this review), he still is a bit of an enigma. There is still a lot to be learned. He’s a dark SOB, this one. He’s got his fetishes, but holy wow is he delicious. And scary. Seriously, I love him – but if I had known him IRL I would have been scared s***less, and kept my distance.Then we have Avery. This girl’s got some spunk. I mean she has to, given that Sean is her love interest. She’s a struggling student when we first meet her, and when her best friend, Mel, realizes this, she reveals what her REAL job is. She’s a high dollar call girl. Ms. Black latches on to Avery immediately, and if Avery just takes one client, it could solve all her problems. She only has to say yes. Problem is she only wants one guy, Sean. Enter: a s***load of trouble.“I’m rewarded, uh, I mean punished, with a slap to my backside.” - AveryThis is an erotic romance, and you can expect some mighty steamy scenes. Some of the volumes more so than others, because there is a hell of a lot going on in this series. The Arrangement, and Sean basically, was the catalyst for all the other books from this same world. Sean has made an appearance is in every spin-off so far. So this is obviously a great place to start if you are curious about H.M. Ward’s books. Just remember to start at the beginning. You would not understand half of what’s going on if you jumped into it halfway through.It’s important to note that this is a fan driven series. Essentially that means that as long as the fans want more, there will be more. And I honestly can’t picture the day we won’t want more. So if that is not for you, I recommend you go pick up something else, because this story has been going on for a good while now, and I certainly hope it will go on for a long time to come – as long as Holly wants it to.Another important note is that these are split up in volumes, and each one end on a cliffhanger (Holly is the queen of cliffhangers). It’s nerve-wracking every time. And it is one of the tings that keep it just as exciting as it was in the beginning. As well as the fact that they’re always fast paced, and it never gets boring. Each volume starts off exactly where the last one left off. I always like to re-read the latest volume before the next one releases because you really get thrown right back into the action without any recaps. It really is kind of built like a TV-show, which is so awesome, because something like that is currently in the works! *fangirls* Just Imagine seeing THE Sean Ferro on screen…

We've come a long way from the first book. And for those who are tired of buying these books because they are short u are completely missing out.Avery and Sean are finally figuring things out. We all know Avery is in love with Sean, but now we finally see and understand ho he feels. I hated the way the last book ended and I wasn't sure how H.m. Ward was going to take it from there. But as always Sean surprised me again. I was so hopeful for them by the end of this book.But sorry everyone just like the others we were left with yes another cliff hanger. I know people hate that but it just gets better and better by the first page of the next book.

I LOVED this book. This was the first Amy Clipston book I read and I can definitely say it won't be the last.I won't spend time telling what the book is about because that is covered in the description. I will tell you the story is so good and written so well I was pulled into it and was able to read this book in hours, not days. (In fact I had to force myself to do housework and have reading this as a reward!).This book is not your typical Amish fiction story. Amy writes about a serious health issue and how it affected the entire family, focusing on Lydia, the main character. The story was written in a way that I forgot I was reading about fictional characters. These characters became real to me and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen.This book made me tear up one second and smile the next. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys Amish fiction. I will be telling others about it. This definitely goes on the keeper shelf!!!Thank you, Amy, for writing such a great book.

Amy Clipston is by far one of my favorite authors. She has a way about her words and descriptions that truly draw you into the lives of the characters. As I read Reckless Heart, I was drawn into the home of Lydia and her family and the struggles there were met with in a severe illness. I could see the worry on each of the parents' faces. The frustration and concern and anger within Lydia as she tries to navigate this new life even if temporary and how permanent it felt for her in the moment. I had to fight back my own tears during some of the more intense conversations between different characters and could feel the warmth of Irma wanting so much to be her sisters confidante in the midst of the chaos. It was tied in well to the Kauffman Amish bakery series but also enough of a side story to read it without needing to read the Kauffman series first. (Though I strongly recommend you read those too!! They are also amazingly done.) Very few books truly bring me into the picturesque scenery where I can envision the homes and the fields around and how the community is laid out and the setting in such complete detail without making the majority of the story as "setting the scene." Reckless Heart was so well written, I would definitely suggest the read!

Faith, family, and young love are just a few themes explored in this beautifully woven YA novel by author Amy Clipston. When the youngest Bontrager child falls critically ill it's up to eldest daughter Lydia to assume the responsibilities of running a household in her parents absence. While Lydia is resolved to take over her mother's duties of cooking, cleaning, and caring for her brothers while working part-time for the local bakery and community school, her obligations leave no time to be young. The strain of her new responsibilities coupled with grief cause Lydia to engage in one reckless act at a youth gathering instigated by Mahlon Ebersol, the local heart-throb turned bad boy of their Amish community. Though Lydia has no interest in Mahlon or his wild ways she is fearful of how her one mistake will be interpreted by others especially Joshua Glick; the handsome teen whose won her heart. To complicate matters further, Lydia's budding friendship with the non-Amish neighbor Tristan has the community talking, her parents questioning her judgment, and Joshua wondering if she's a trustworthy "maedel." Can Lydia prove to those around her that her heart is not reckless?I received this book to review by Net Galley and Zondervan. This was the first book I've read by Amy Clipston and I found it to be a wonderful, thought provoking novel. I would recommend this book and author to any YA audience.

Amy Clipston knows her way around an Amish kitchen, a courtship, family obligations and community support. Her characters are true to life and charming and strong. Her plot is realistic and happens more often than we in the outside world know.Highly Recommend.

I love this book and like all Amish books I have read it was hard to put down. I would read every night until12:00 or 1;00 and then had to make myself put this book down. I do kmow this can happen in the Amish world as being raised aroung them when I was growsing up . This is a time when they can go out into our world and explore to see if they want to stay in our world our if they want to return to the Amish world.

This book was amazing. I've read it over and over again i have a younger sibling who was very sick for many years, but he's better now. I learned at a young age how to take care of myself it taught me to be independent a plus and a minus for me. I had only a few friends that as time went on I felt I was losing them. Just like Lidia I was confused and angry my mom was always at the hospital and my dad had to work long hours to pay medical bills and I didn't get to see my friends often only one I saw on Sundays at church and i'm still friends with him today. Lydia grew up with Joshua i grew up with a friend and he and I have always gotten along at one point we didn't get to see each other for a long time but know were best friend again. I know I've done things that have upset him and him to me but we forgive each other. When Lydia drank with Mahlon and his friends Lydia lied to try to save her fragile friendship and me and my friend have lied to each other and when the other finds out we get mad at each other but it never lasts more that a day. Lydia and Joshua had a problem but made up quickly. Hope you read this book anyone who likes a challenge of friendship and love should read this.

This story had love, fear, loyalty, dishonor and redemption. Simple acts of life with a message of hope if you keep the faith.

Amy clipston is one of my favorite Amish authors but I was not a fan of this book. I got so tired of Lydia's woe is me attitude. Even though she had tremendous help from her Amish community, she continued to worry about herself. I got to the point where I wanted to shake her because she just added to the stress of the family.
